Validus inTouch is built to support the physician’s workflow, and inTouch Order Entry features speed the process. Physicians can save frequently entered orders and sets of orders, and retrieve them instantly.
inTouch Order Entry uses the hospital’s own order sets to provide a familiar starting point for physicians. Orders and order sets can also be customized to the individual physician and shared among groups of clinicians. Validus inTouch makes use of next-generation speech recognition technology to accelerate system navigation and physician input of medication orders. Physicians can mix-and-match speech and touch screen input in a single order.
inTouch Order Entry Reduces Errors
Orders are entered using the vocabulary and shorthand terms familiar to physicians. However, when the orders are displayed and transmitted, inTouch Order Entry integrates best practices to reduce confusion, such as TALLman spelling (for example, AcetaZOLAMIDE® versus AcetoHEXAMIDE®) and replacement of abbreviations with JCAHO-compliant terminology.
All Validus inTouch orders are “semantically understood,” which means that the system understands whether an order is complete or not. For example, most of the time when ordering medications, the drug name, dosage, route, and frequency are all required. inTouch understands when they are required and when they are not.
inTouch Order Entry Assists Physicians
By integrating the First DataBank drug database, Validus inTouch assists the physician in identifying appropriate dosages and drug interactions, as well as alerting the physician to drug allergies. Validus inTouch can also be customized with the hospital’s own drug formulary.
